The Alchemist’s Apple Tree
The fruit on this tree has been influenced by the Old Man’s alchemical experiments. He has drained old potions, failed experiments, and alchemical waste over the base of this tree. It has become imbued. When the party enters this area, read or paraphrase the following:
Behind the alchemists shop is a small meadow of green grass. A large apple tree is growing in the center of the clearing. The tree is covered with huge, bright red apples. Each one is almost four inches wide. They look delicious. There is an empty glass vial on ground near the tree.
- The apples look fine, but have faint metallic smell.
- The empty vial has a oily residue in it, it shares the same faint metallic smell.
The apples are not poisonous unless more than one is eaten. If a character takes a bite of an apple, roll on the Alchemical Apples table and there effects are applied immediately. These effects can be removed with remove curse or greater restoration spell. Alternatively, alchemical nullifiers could reverse the impacts of the fruit.

8 | You feel it flowing through you. Roll a d6, you can cast one of the following spells once a day: 1. cure wounds 2. sleep 3. shield 4. haste 5. leap 6. charm |
9 | You feel a strong affinity to the world and your place within it. You always know which way is north. You always know the number of hours left before the next sunrise or sunset. |
10 | Your legs grow 1d12 inches longer. You can now move faster when walking or running. |
11 | Your arms grow 50 percent longer. |
12 | You can feel your head swelling as your brain grows. You have developed a photographic memory. |
This table was taken from a 5e adventure I wrote about 4 years ago. The person who was publishing it vanished. About two months ago I got the adventure back. It's quite a bloated, lumbering thing. I'm going to pick some of the usable elements and post them up here.
